The Left hands
The Western tradition of wearing the wedding ribbons on your left finger goes back more than you might have previously thought- all the way to the days of Ancient Rome.
The Romans then believe in that a vein ran directly from the fourth finger of the left hand to the heart.
This vein was call Vena Amoris, which translates into “love vein” because of the belief that the heart is the center of our emotions.
If you wear a ring that represents her passion on this finger, his fate as a couple is sealed and her love is eternal. Even after science had debunked the existence of this unique connecting vein, the trend has become so popular that it became a tradition of millennia.
The right hands
Although many cultures traditionally wear their wedding rings in their right hand, with countries such as Russia, Germany, Norway and India being examples.
For many, this tradition comes from the Latin adjective “sinister” which originally meant “left” before it define by evil.
This, above the majority of the world population, was right-handed and the Christian cross being done with the right hand, the left came to be understood as anti-Christian, bringing the right-handed engagement ring to fame.
As well most south and central Asian countries like, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Hongkong… wear engagement bands in left hands.
Some countries, such as Colombia and Brazil, carry their bands in their right hand and then after completing their vows transfer it over to the left, with the Netherlands and Germany doing the same, but in the opposite direction.
